The origins of the Honda Prelude date all the way back to 1978. This year is when the car was first introduced to the Japanese market by auto manufacturer Honda.
The Prelude was actually the first Honda car to have a power moonroof be standard in all models. Through the early eighties, all but 20% of Preludes made were sold in Japan.
1982 marked the creation of the second generation Honda Prelude. The following year the car was introduced the worldwide car market. This Prelude model came with anti lock brakes and an upgraded engine.
A third generation Prelude entered the market in 1987, while it was not released in the United States until 1988. This model included the world’s first four wheel steering system. A fourth generation model was introduced in 1991 with another upgraded engine.
1996 marked the advent of the fifth and final generation of the Honda Prelude. The 4 speed automatic or 5 speed manual Prelude is one of the best selling Honda models in the United States.
Once Honda decided to give the car a facelift in 1999, the newly released 2000 Honda Prelude would go on to fill our streets.
About The 2000 Honda Prelude
The 2000 Honda Prelude proved to be a great car choice for people looking for a taste of a sports car. The 2000 Prelude comes with 20 miles per gallon in the city and 25 miles per gallon on the highway.
The car can reach 200 horsepower at 7,000 RPM. The Honda Prelude trunk has approximately 8.7 cubic feet of cargo trunk space.
While the Prelude comes only in a coupe style, the car does feature four seats. Towing is not recommended in the Honda Prelude. And believe it or not, the Prelude takes premium gasoline.
As for added features the 2000 Prelude model comes with cruise control, hands free phone, and a navigation system. These things were not always standard yet Honda included them in the Prelude.
What is a 2000 Honda Prelude Worth?
Since the 2000 Honda Prelude is over twenty years old, the car will not fetch a high dollar amount. That of course assumes your Prelude doesn’t have every part upgraded and in pristine condition.
Depending on the condition, the value of a 2000 Honda Prelude can range from $375 – $2,000. These figures are based on previous Honda Preludes that we have purchased.
A used 2000 Honda Prelude in decent shape can almost always fetch over $1,000. This is because Honda cars are known for their reliability and longevity.
With that in mind, Honda car buyers can buy a used Prelude and actually drive it themselves.
A junk 2000 Honda Prelude will only fetch a couple hundred dollars. This is assuming the car still has all of its parts.
If some important parts are missing like the steering rack then the value will be less. If the Prelude does not run then the value will be even less.
